Surf Team Parents:

For the safety of all the members and for the coach’s sanity, we will have a sign-in sheet and a sign-out sheet. We want to be sure all team members are safely out of the water at the end of each practice. So please have your son or daughter sign in on a roster list that we will provide at the practice. We will try to maintain a 3:00 – 5:00 practice, depending on how quickly it will get dark after Nov 4th. Based on parent requests we are trying to alternate Thursday and Friday for practices. Currently, the next practice will be next Friday, Nov 2nd.

Special Thanks

I would like to thank San Diego Surf School for their assistance in our first practice and again Thursday’s practice. We want to thank Coach Souf Tihhi who owns San Diego Surf School, Coach Chase Fischer and Coach Collin for their help running the heats.

We also want to thank the parent coaches; Zach Jacobs, Robert Stanley, Rob Chalfant, and Marc Hirschfield who have helped in and out of the water. We also want to thank Mark Heinze, our Muirlands Middle School liaison who has also helped to coordinate the team in and out of the water.

Competitive Update

This week we had our third practice. The surf was bigger than our last two practices but tour members worked very hard to get to the outside and they made it. Collin and Chase judged the heats and after each heat, gave each of the heat contestants constructive coaching on making their waves count more during a contest.

Our goal is to give our tour members thoughtful advice and strategies for our upcoming SSS surf contests, and our club members instruction and support so they can improve their surfing skill. Our first contest is Nov 17th Oceanside south jetty. We will have one more practice with 15 min heats and will also have team try-outs on the November 7th minimum day from 1:00 to 4:00.

Camping Trip

We would like to organize a camping trip for the first weekend in December. The options are to go to San Elijo camp ground in Encinitas, the Carlsbad camp ground, or San Clement (like last year). Please let us know if your son or daughter can attend the camping trip. Let us know by going to the team’s website and click on the “contact” link and send us a quick message.

Team Hoodies

We are ready to order the surf team hoodies but we need the sizes for all the team members.  The sooner we have all these the sooner we can order them.
