THE BOTTOM TURN IS THE KEY

On Wednesday before practice we talked about the importance of learning to do good bottom turns. They set up all the other maneuvers you do and put you in the right part of the wave to do good turns. Here’s a 2 shot sequence of Dutch Drinco showing us how it all works!

He’s right in the middle of his bottom turn, edge is set well into the wave face (note the spray coming off his rail) and he’s looking at the part of the wave he wants to go up and hit.

The bottom turn projects him up the wave face and he hits it at just the right time with plenty of speed & power to get half his board above the lip. Nice job Dutch. Practice those bottom turns boys.
